Our equine radiology team have just returned from a great weekend at the Veterinary Sports Horse Congress, in conjunction with Jumping Amsterdam. The event played host to over 450 international sport horse veterinarians.  It was a fabulous weekend, meeting with existing clients and prospects and discussing the services we offer.  It was great to chat to friends and colleagues from around the world, as far afield as Russia and the USA, about many of the issues raised during the lectures,  including pre-purchase examinations in sports horses - a running theme of the congress.

Pre-purchase Examination Reports

As equine diagnostic imaging specialists we know your primary concern is to ensure that your pre-purchase examinations enable you to give the best possible advice to prospective purchasers. The sessions focused on the importance of an open dialogue between clinicians when assessing the patient and any associated information. Pre-purchase diagnostic imaging was a frequent topic of discussion. The importance of an accurate expert review of images, integrated with clinical findings with knowledge of the current and intended use of the horse, was re-iterated on numerous occasions.

Lively audience participation was experienced within the panel discussions, with debates regarding the significance of some radiographic findings and the level of risk for future soundness in athletic horses. The audience raised some very interesting questions, which tested the panel! Discussions continued during the cocktail hour, with some interesting debate at the VET.CT stand. Many delegates expressed interest in having diagnostic imaging specialists reporting their pre-purchase images.  If you’d like to find out more about our pre-purchase image reporting services, please get in touch.

Jumping Amsterdam

The social programme was full, with opportunities for delegates to enjoy the Jumping Amsterdam show which ran in parallel in the same venue, alongside additional evening lectures for those with exceptional stamina. Charlotte Fry and Becky Moody took first and second in the FEI dressage world cup, which made for fantastic viewing. The evening showjumping competitions were amazing, with nail biting jump offs keeping everyone in their seats until almost midnight.

We offer a huge thanks to the organisers for hosting such an informative and enjoyable event. It was incredibly enjoyable sponsoring the weekend and connecting with so many of the delegates.
